“Show Israel the Red Card” demonstration in Udine – 14th October 2025

On 14th October, in Udine (a town in north-eastern Italy), the Italian men’s national football team played against the Israeli national team. The fact that Israel has not been excluded from these competitions (World Cup, Olympics, Eurovision) has sparked anger and outrage among the Italian population, who have decided to “show Israel the red card” themselves.

For this reason, protests were organised throughout the country, and in Udine, where the match was played, about 15,000 people from all over the country arrived. The protest was peaceful, although it was clear from the outset that the population is angry and tired of taking to the streets only to suffer political and police repression by the government. This climate of hostility on the part of the government has unsurprisingly led to clashes with the police.
